What makes a personality?
The man can't live isolated from others. He is surrounded by a lot of different people. And "everyone is a moon and has a dark side which he never shows to anybody". In fact "every man is a hotchpotch of greatness and littleness, of virtue and vice". Everyone has a mixture of different qualities. Some of them appeal to us, but we can't stand others. Of all qualities the man can possess I value honesty, kindness and will power.
Most of all I appreciate kind-hearted people. And it's not for nothing that Shakespeare said "a kind heart is worth gold", because such people will always give us a helping hand, when we are in need. They will never leave us in trouble, we can always share our problems with them, as they''ll not let us down, but sacrifice themselves for the sake of their friends. Such people are usually considered of others, friendly and sympathetic and we can always rely on them, because they are selfless and you can always turn for help to them.
And it goes without saying that I hate stony hearted people and selfish people. If a person is self-centered and merciless, he will never stir a finger to help others. You can never trust such people, because they turn out to be false friends. People with a heart of stone don't care a twopence for others. That's why I admire tender and kind-hearted people.
Another trait of character I respect is honesty. I adore decent and sincere people, because they are people with a sense of duty, they never tell lies, if they make a promise, they always keep it. You can share your secrets with them and they will never talk behind your back. Frankly speaking, I suppose that nowadays honesty is very hard to find, so people value it very much. No wonder Shakespeare said "an honest man is the noblest work of God".
"Our life is no bed of roses", you should not live with your head in the clouds, but you are to stand with both feet firmly on the ground. That is why you are to develop a strong will. When a person is persistent and determined to succeed, he can make a firm decision to do smth. and work hard to make his dreams come true. You can always rely on such people because they can be entrusted with any tasks. They "can dream and not make dreams their master", but sacrifice their leisure to achieve their goals. So people with a strong will "can make one heap of all their winnings and risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss, and lose and start again at their beginnings and never breathe a word about their loss". People with a strong will are always admired, because such people never give up and they are confident of their success and they "can force their heart and nerve and sinew to serve their turn long after they are gone". And they "hold on when there is nothing in them except the will, which says to them "hold on!" ".
Frankly speaking, I would like to model my life from my father, because he has all these qualities. He is very friendly, sympathetic and he always helps me when I'm in need. Also my father never tells lies, he always keeps his promises. He has a strong will and never gives up. He "is able as days go by always to look himself straight in the eye." So I consider him to be a real personality. But after all every person is a hotchpotch of different qualities, but he has not only dark sides, but also bright ones. And we should admire them and remember "what a piece of work is .
